I really sucked at it. I was extremely shy in high school. I did not have a single date. A complete failure. Then at 18 I got massive acne. I took 2 years off after high school. I was still scanless. It was embarassing. I was the butt of the jokes. "Are you gay?" "You don't like woman, why not?" Etc. etc.
If it wasn't humilating enough to not get women... here I was getting badgered or as the parlance then was "capped on."
Then in college I developed good study habits. I started to think scientifically (while others were out with women!). This led me to start to analyze my problems. And, my problems were sizeable. I was dreadfully skinny, recovering from a SEVERE bout of acne, overly shy, self-conscious... and while I couldn't admit it at the time, the fact is I was an absolute LOSER in the dating game. On second thought, it wasn't a game, because I never played in it.
Finally, I got a girl's number. I was so excited that I must have come across as desperate. A number virgin, among other things. Well, ultimately, it didn't pan out.
Depression grew.
The only think working out was my studying and I held a steady job. This was a big improvement from my high school years.
